"This book has been wonderfully inspirational with a large collection of different perspectives and styles. Each artist covered tells you a bit of their history, sources of inspiration, materials they use and their particular techniques for working. Sprinkled throughout are little passages of advice that one can go back to again and again. The styles of artists cover a great variety, everything from the horrific, to the goofy, comic and beautiful. They include architecture drawings as well as creatures and people. This book, along with the, 'Fantasy," version have really had a great effect on my own work and have led me to be more greatly excited and productive. I keep these books in the bathroom so that whenever I am there I can go back and find more and more reasons to keep working. These books have been a great find."

- So when i bought this i thought it was going to be a book that was going to help me draw better by giving me tips and tricks. In a way it did but not the way i expected it too. This book is a compilation of other artist and the way they make their characters. They give a sense of background, they explain their inspirations and ideas, what materials they use, and how they start or do their sketching and their techniques. It also shows some of their sketches. Overall i really did like reading/looking at this book it a nice way to look at other artist, looking at their styles and how they got their ideas.

- I thought i wrote a review on this already, but i don't see it. I have purchased 4 of these books (Characters, Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Creative Drawing). As a newer artist myself (just as a hobby), i find these to be full of inspiration. Not only it is inspiring to flip though the sketches and see the artwork, but reading about each artist and their process, or tips they share, is insightful. I didn't give it 5 stars because like someone else mentioned the quality of the paper is not great so i don't know if they will last over a long period of time. But if you want to be exposed to other artists out there and get all inspired to make art yourself, this is for you!
- Lovely book with some incredible artists in here. My favorites being Ramon Nunez and Nurzhan Bekkaliyev. I have used this book for the great advice that the artists give in their sections and as for studying purposes. Definitely recommend this book if you want to start drawing appealing characters.
- Book is full of inspiring art from many different artists. Will inspire you to get off your hands and draw as well as show you some of the cool things and places you can go with art.
- THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!!! it's a trove of inspiration if you're an illustrator, animator, concept artist, or character designer, illustrative art appreciator, etc. totally should be on the list for essentials in art school, or just something to browse when you're art-blocked. I LOVE it!!
- I love seeing artists sketches. It shows me the way they process their ideas and the raw energy of the sketch that sometimes gets lost in the final pieces. This book is full of sketches with notes from artists describing their thoughts on their works.
- Awesome book. Full of gorgeous art and notes on how each artist thinks and draws. It’s just great to look at for inspiration and it’s so cool to see other artists thoughts on their art. So worth the price.
